今週のIBL特集に現在Nippon Tornadoesのスコアラーとしてチームを支えてるYasu 飯島選手がスポットを浴びました。
Yasu 誰？ Who is Yasuのデビューは鮮烈でした。
誰もが想像していない距離からの3ポイント、しかもジャンプシュート。
多分レイ・アレンもここから始まったのかなと思わせる、几帳面な職人的シュート。
傍から見てても、ボールを持ってリングに向かい、ジャンプをした時点で入るかどうかが分かるほど、シュートフォーム＆タイミングが決まっている。
このままクイックネス、スピード、パワー、ジャンプ力、正確性が出来上がってきたら・・・と思うと可能性を秘めた逸材。

バスケットボール歴は6年くらい。経歴は2010国体日本一。
高校からバスケを始めました。それまでは小学校、中学校サッカー部、部長。サッカー歴の方が長いです。
I started playing basketball about six years ago when I started my high
school. Before that in my elementary
school and junior high school, I was playing soccer. I was the captain of my
team. Actually, my soccer career is longer than my basketball career. One of my achievements was leading our
prefectural team to win the national sports festival championship in 2010.

日本を盛り上げたくて自分から地元のエージェントにメールを送りました。
How I ended up with the bj league was that it started with me sending a mail
to my local agent. I just wanted to do something for my country.
日本とアメリカの違いは基本が違います。
日本では「タフショット」と呼ばれるシュートはある意味ディフェンスから見たら「入ってもしょうがない」と認識されている。
しかしアメリカはそのタフショットと呼ばれるようなシュートを練習している。つまり、しょうがないなんて事で済まされる事は１つもない。
できないことをやる文化や教育に違いを感じました。
The difference I feel between Japan and U.S. is fundamental. For example,
let’s say you take a tough shot to the basket.
In Japan, those kind of shots are taken just out of necessity. They are not
something the offense meant to do.
Players don’t practice those shots. They just throw the ball to the
basketball our of desperation.
And the defense also don’t take responsibility when those shots go in. They
feel that it’s ok to give up stopping them and let them go.
But in the U.S., players practice shooting even such “tough shots". They
practice and prepare for every situation in the game even
for such desperation shots. Nothing is “let go" here in the U.S. Every small
part of fundamental is being reviewed in the practice.
That’s where I see a difference. I think that’s in American culture and
education that nothing is impossible and people practice and train to make impossible possible.

そのために近い将来、NBAに入る必要がある。必ずNBAに入ります。今世界には日本人が必要なんです。
My goal has never changed, and it won’t, either. World peace. I am serious.
For that goal, I need to play in the NBA.
I will make it there for sure. This world needs Japanese now.
